Release Notes 1.92 - 1.93 - 1.94 - 1.95 Dark Age of Camelot With the European Version 1.95, we bring to you a major overhaul of our New User experience. All newly created characters will start in one of three areas, Constantine's Sound, Lamfhota's Sound, or Grenlock's Sound, depending on their realm of origin. These areas, revamped from our original tutorial region, will provide quests, adventuring, equipment, experience, and RvR opportunities for all characters of levels 1 through 10. The progression through these areas is fun and relatively quick, providing a useful learning experience and plenty of rewards. Our goal is to bring new users who come to Dark Age of Camelot together in one consolidated place, provide them with basic instructions, the necessities for leveling, and level-appropriate gear rewards. We also addressed the various housing options available to players and made some adjustments. We wanted to make larger homes a more viable choice, as opposed to owning two smaller homes, by lowering the prices of both deeds and rent, as well as add additional vault space to accommodate the growing need for more storage. In addition to the housing changes, we have added the "Rest Experience" feature, which allows players to accumulate a certain amount of bonus experience that is built up based on where they log out. As we move forward onto future patches, we will continue to add more updates to housing and expand upon other elements that have made Dark Age of Camelot thrive. Finally we introduced class changes in all three realms, added flight and updated horse routes in the classic areas. In addition, we have begun making adjustments to the Shrouded Isles treasure tables ; a process which will continue into future patches. NEW THINGS AND BUG FIXES - All players have been granted a free Mythic Respec. - Items and armor that are awarded by the low level recruit quests may now be sold for small amounts of copper. - Master Lucyn will no longer talk to players about the Getting up to Speed quest if they are not participating in the quest. - (Hibernia) Hondrund will now drop loot that is more appropriate for a cat-like creature. - The field spiders in Cathal Valley will no longer drop Midgard-specific items to players from Hibernia or Albion. - The channeler in Svarhamr will no longer repeat words when displaying options to teleport players to housing. - The Bard group-health regeneration songs now display the correct group widget on the icon. - The /use ability on the Runed Bone Staff can now be properly discharged. - The Dragonsworm helm for the Mission : Infiltration quests can now only be used while the player is in Camelot Hills, Lough Derg, or the Vale of Mularn. - The character selection screen has been revamped to make the button layout and look more user-friendly. - Players will no longer have line of sight to cast or shoot other players through tower windows. Additionally, players will no longer be able to Shadowstrike other players through tower windows - Classes with the ability to climb walls will no longer have difficulty climbing tower walls. This fixes an issue where certain tower climb points were no longer accessible. - Crafting - Players may notice several new recipes in their Spellcrafting menu. These recipes were added to assist players on the Cooperative ruleset server in combining Dreaded Seals. The recipes will display for characters on all servers in the Spellcrafting line, but will not function outside of the Cooperative ruleset. Note there is no EU server under the Cooperative ruleset. - The Triumphant Minstrel Stone Shaper now has a reuse timer of 12 minutes, bringing it in line with other Dragonslayer weapons. - The Ancient Copper Necklace, Beaded Resisting Stones, and Paidrean Necklace will no longer lose durability when repaired. - Thayr, an Aurulite merchant in the Kobold Undercity, now sells two gems which were previously only available in Hibernia and Albion. - The rumor NPCs located in each realm's capital city are now talking about more recent goings on in their kingdom. - The blinded and bumbling bwca in the Labyrinth now have realm specific treasure. - (PVP Only) Technomancer Gibson will no longer take damage from spike traps. - The trash drop called globe of swirling mist is now stackable. - James Maury, Snorri Sturluson, and Edward Plunkett will no longer repeat the dialogue to offer the A Tale of a Dragon's Revenge quest to players that have already completed it. - The spell range bonus on items will now affect the leash range of focus spells and necromancer pet casting in the same way it affects the casting range of a spell. - Players will no longer be teleported to the same side of a keep/tower door. This corrects an issue where characters sometimes were erroneously ported back to the same side they were attempting to leave. - The Lament of Dartmoor harp will now display the correct item bonus. - The Belt of the Sun can now be equipped in housing zones and capital cities. - Race descriptions have been updated and expanded to give new players more information on each of the races before they choose them upon character creation. - The Valkyrie class helm gifts given at levels 10, 15, 20, and 25 now have the same /use ability as the torso armor gift given to other classes at the same levels. - The Royal Illuminator of Albion will now properly describe the Minstrel Champion Weapon enchantments available to eligible players. - All items will now delve their 'bonus' level. The 'bonus level' is how high of a level the character must be to receive the effects of the bonuses on the particular item. Note : The 'bonus' level may not be the same as the minimum level for use of the object. - A three second timer has been added to the use of emotes. This affects the use of the "/emote" command and emotes with specific commands (like "dance" or "rude".) - Animated emotes (like "dance" or "rude") will not display for players on a character's ignore list. - Experience gained because of a Zone Bonus will be displayed separately and be labeled accordingly. - New style quests will display the amount of coin and experience to be gained more accurately. This corrects an issue where in rare cases the amount of coin or experience would seem larger or smaller in the quest accept and finish dialog windows than what players would actually receive. - New style quests will no longer display an extraneous numerical display in the system chat when completed. - All invigoration (endurance) potions have had their duration increased from five minutes to ten minutes. - Instead of Hired Militiaman Contracts, the supply chests in the New Frontiers keeps which require a key to open now have a chance to give a Token of Heroism. This token may be turned in to a Royal Accountant for bounty points and experience at level 50, or for just experience at any level below 50. - The /target command will now allow you to target dead players. - Keeps will now show as under attack on the realm war map as long as a siege tower exists, whether it is in the process of being built or has been completed. - A number of horse routes throughout the classic zones have been modified to be more convenient. In addition, flight routes have been added to provide a faster mode of transportation to and from certain locations. - Several travel ticket names in housing have been changed to refer to the name of the location they go to as opposed to the name of the stable master they go to. - The in-game '/help' menu has been updated to reflect the travel route changes. - A new, more visible, quest indicator has been added which replaces the previous ring around the feet. The new indicator floats above the quest giver's head. - Weapon merchants in the Tutorial zones now sell fist wrap, hand-to-hand, and scythe weapons. - The Druid Guild Gift blunt weapon choice is now correctly referred to as a hammer instead of a mace. - The guards that protect Humberton, Huginfel, and Tir na mBeo will now damage mobs properly again. -All Alchemy components obtained from killing monsters now have an increased drop rate. TUTORIAL ZONES Recognizing the need for more trained adventurers to aid the realms in their ongoing battles against enemy forces from within and without, the Kings of each realm have dedicated more resources to this end. - Now, players can enter the game and explore the lands of Constantine's Sound (Albion), Grenlock's Sound (Midgard), or Lamfhota's Sound (Hibernia), gaining experience and preparing themselves for the battles to come. - New players entering the tutorial will now be notified that voiceovers are being used so they are aware of the added audio aspect of the tutorial. - Several voice-overs and dialogs in the tutorial have been adjusted to reflect recent changes made in the game. Example : The voice-over no longer tells players that the trainers are near the well as the new advanced trainers have set up shop around the spruced up towns. - Constantine's Sound (Albion), Grenlock's Sound (Midgard), and Lamfhota's Sound (Hibernia) have been expanded to allow players, new and old, to learn and level easily from level one to ten in one area. To accommodate this, the zones have been expanded and additional quests implemented to provide content up to level ten. - (Albion) Constantine's Sound has been expanded to include the towns of New Avalon and Finnen along with the existing town of Holtham and the keep Caer Stamford. New quests and content is available in all three villas. - An entrance to the Demon's Breach Realm vs. Realm (RvR) dungeon has been placed in each realm's tutorial. Players who are level 5-10 may access the dungeon. - Players will start in these zones automatically now, regardless of whether they choose 'Tutorial' on the character creation screen. There are channelers present that will allow access in and out of the tutorial for level appropriate characters. FOUNDATIONS NOTES The following changes have been made to housing in all realms : Purchase Price : Cottage : The cost of the cottage deed will remain at 1 platinum. House : The cost of the house deed will drop from 10 platinum to 5 platinum. Villa : The cost of the villa deed will drop from 40 platinum to 10 platinum. Mansion : The cost of the mansion deed will drop from 100 platinum to 25 platinum. Rental Price : Cottage : The weekly rental price for the cottage will remain at 20 gold. House : The weekly rental price for the house will drop from 200 gold to 35 gold. Villa : The weekly rental price for the villa will drop from 800 gold to 60 gold. Mansion : The weekly rental price for the mansion will drop from 2 platinum to 100 gold. - Villas will now have access to four vaults. (up from 3) - Mansions will now have access to eight vaults. (up from 4) Note : Vaults 5 through 8 for Mansions are currently mapped to the vault 1 through 4 permissions. For example, vault 1 and vault 5 will share the same permissions, vault 2 and 6 will share the same permissions, vault 3 and 7 will share the same permissions, and vault 4 and 8 will share the same permissions. - The repossession merchants for personal vaults and guild vaults have staffed up to be available for the increased vault amounts. - Albion Mansion - The merchant hookpoint in the lower level has been moved slightly to make way for the additional vault hookpoints. (You might need to pick him up in the old location and place him on the new hookpoint to reset him.) REST EXPERIENCE Characters with rest experience (RXP) will gain a bonus to their experience gained when killing monsters or players. The bonus is equal to the base amount of experience gained before any other bonuses (zone, realm, buffs, etc.) are applied, up to the amount of total rest experience remaining. Example : Samedi the Spiritmistress has accumulated 10,000 RXP. She kills a mob that would grant her 16,000 XP normally (without bonuses). Samedi would gain a RXP bonus of 10,000 XP, using up her accumulated RXP. Example : Ohmak the Chaman has accumulated 30,000 RXP. He kills a mob that would grant him 16,000 XP normally (without bonuses). Ohmak would gain a RXP bonus of 16,000 XP, leaving him with 14,000 RXP to use on subsequent kills. Characters will start gathering rest experience (RXP) after they have been logged out for at least one hour and will gain additional RXP for every hour offline after that. The amount of rest experience gained per hour scales linearly based on the level of the character. Lower level characters will gain up to 5% per hour of the experience needed to go from their current level to the next level. Highest level characters will gain up to 1% per hour of the experience needed to go from their current level to the next level. Rest experience (RXP) is capped at half the experience required to get the character from their current level to level 50. Note : Characters will continue to gain RXP at level 50 for the purposes of champion level experience. The amount of possible rest experience gained is modified by where the characters logs out. Certain zones are more conducive to a restful state and will allow you to gather the full amount of rest experience possible, as explained above. Currently, the capital cities are flagged as 'Restful Nodes', so logging out here will net you the greatest possible amount of rest experience. All other zones currently will award rest experience when characters log in, but it will be at a lower rate than these 'Rest Stops'. Players can check how rested they are by using the new command, "/rested." The following feedback is possible from this command : "You feel very well rested" means the character has more rest experience than it would take to get to the next level. "You feel well rested" means the character has less than would be required to get to the next level, but above one-third of what would be required. "You feel rested" means the character has less than one-third of what would be required, but has some rest experience. "You feel tired" means the character has no rest experience gathered. CLASS CHANGES AND FIXES General - Base Class removal - As part of this expansion to the starter area content, we have removed the necessity to choose a base class upon character creation. Instead, players can choose any of the advanced classes available to their chosen race. Example : Bob wants to try his hand at being a Thane. Instead of choosing to join the Viking Base Class, leveling to five, then choosing to be a Thane ; Bob can just choose to be a Thane from the Character Selection screen. - When creating a new character, players will choose the advanced class they want immediately. Because of the amount of advanced classes available to the player, the starting stat allocation process has been modified. For new characters, when a player chooses an advanced class, the starting stats will be auto-allocated. This is similar to choosing that option previously when creating a base class. If a player wishes to customize their starting stats, they can do so on the following screen where the facial features are customized. There is now an 'adjust attributes' option on that screen allowing you to view and change your starting stats. Existing characters still have the option to change their stats at any time. This can be done by choosing the 'customize' button at the bottom of the screen when they have their character selected. The only difference is that the stat modification option is now on the facial feature screen, toggled via the 'adjust attributes' button on the bottom of that screen. The auto allocation stats have been adjusted by class and all new characters will have these stats auto allocated upon character creation. These stats can be adjusted in the "Adjust Attributes" tab on the character creation screen. Albion
